Documenting W.C. Fields on the Long Island Motor Parkway in 1925
At Thursday's meeting of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society, people were fascinated by the post of the 1925 film "Sally of the Sawdust". As a follow-up to several requests, here is my documentation of where I believe D.W. Griffith filmed W.C. Fields on the Motor Parkway. (8 comments)

Film: W.C Fields Driving On the Long Island Motor Parkway in “Sally of the Sawdust”
John has forwarded this D.W. Griffith film "Sally of the Sawdust". Starring Carol Dempster, W.C. Fields, and Alfred Lunt, the film was shot in Bayside, Greenwich an on the "Motor Parkway" in 1925. (7 comments)

Updated: Long Island Motor Parkway Bridge Series #30: Old Country Road Motor Parkway Bridge
The 30th bridge in the series documenting the 60 bridges built by the Long Island Motor Parkway is the Old Country Motor Parkway Bridge on the Carle Place/Mineola border connecting to Garden City. This was classified by the Motor Parkway as a "highway" bridge since it went under Old Country Road. (5 comments)

The Birth of the Long Island Motor Parkway
The death of a spectator in the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race nearly brought the classic to a premature demise. The marvel was that only one spectator had been killed in the three races held up to that time. Demonstrating vision again, William K. Vanderbilt Jr. chartered the goal of a private parkway.
