    One of the most elusive pieces of Vanderbilia are the special radiator plates to signify entrants practicing for the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race and the associated Sweepstakes races.     The Packard Gray Wolf- One of America’s First Lightweight Racers

    One of the five American entries in the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race was the 30-HP lightweight dirt-track Packard Gray Wolf. Driven by its designer Charles Schmidt, the first Packard racer had previously set one-mile and five-mile records in January 1904. (1 comments)

    Film: Thomas Edison’s “Automobile Parade” in New York City Held on November 4, 1899

    Among the paper print films discovered in the basement of the Library of Congress in the 1930s was this 2-minute film of an automobile parade held in New York City in 1899. A copyright for the film was filed using a paper print by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. on February 6, 1900. (3 comments)
