A 1931 Long Island Motor Parkway Plate Being Sold on Ebay
 

 November 25, 2011 Update: The final bid was $2,551, a record for a Motor Parkway plate sold on Ebay. A total of 14 bids were offered with three bids over $2,367.

"Listeners at the Oyster Bay Town Board meeting for granting landmark status to the Maine Maid Inn in Jericho were surprised and delighted (shown by sudden applause) as Supervisor John Venditto proposed the town might purchase the historic building....."

Congratulations to all who participated.  What was the original paving material used on the Motor Parkway?  I suppose something might be considered to restoring the road way at least to prevent the return of unwanted growth.  Also, I suppose a dumb question did the original parkway go over or under the bridge?"

Howard Kroplick: Ken, the Motor Parkway was a concrete surface later covered by asphalt. The Motor Parkway was on top of the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge.

Walt Gosden: "I remember and saw the car when it was stored at the Long Island Automotive Museum and took photographs of it when it was there in storage. The paint was checked, but there was no paint loss, and if the paint was still in the condition now as it was then, you would preserve and conserve it , not repaint it. A rare car indeed, but not for the faint of heart as a restoration project, and I would estimate between $300k to $450k to restore the car properly - the plating alone will be $25K."

Paul Hudson: "Loved the videos and pictures. I was helping push the Wasp to try to get it started. When it finally fired up, A.J the mechanic fell and was being dragged down the track. I ran around and picked him before he was run over by the rear wheel. My wife got pictures of the whole event and I would love to share them with you. Truly one of the greatest experiences of my life!"

Third “Clean Up the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge” Day,  Saturday, December 3, 2011
 

 A meeting of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 beginning at 7:30 PM. Due to our growing membership, the meeting has moved to a new location- the auditorium at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage. We will be discussing plans for 2012. If you wish to assist in projects concerning the Motor Parkway, please join the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society. Become a member by completing the information in this registration form and sending it to [email protected] . No fees are required-just energy and dedication. Current membership: 91.
