This Sunday's Farmingdale's presentation was featured in the Explore LI section of Friday's Newsday. Check out image 11 of the photo gallery. This special Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society program will be held at Farmingdale Library beginning at 2:00 PM. It will include a discussion of the Vanderbilt Cup Races, the Long Island Motor Parkway and rare images of Farmingdale and Bethpage. Admission is free. For information call 1-516-249-3099.

The 128-page book by Howard Kroplick, a researcher and lecturer on the races, contains rare images of the races from the archives of major museums, libraries and private collectors. The book Vanderbilt Cup Races of Long Island will be available from Arcadia Publishing in March 2008.
