Aerial advertising kites flying near the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race grandstand
When thousands of spectators arrived at the start of the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race, they were amazed to view over 20 advertising kites flying 25-50 feet near the grandstand. These aerial advertising kites and banners are documented in the Lazarnick Collection of the Detroit Public Library. (6 comments)

The Incredible Vanderbilt Cup Races on Long Island: The Role of Hicksville Updated: 11/22/16
Great turnout for tonight's special "Incredible Vanderbilt Cup Races" presentation highlighting the role of Hicksville in the races.
