The 4th Annual Motor Parkway “Sunday Drive”, Queens to Lake Ronkonkoma
Please find the official flyer for our 5th Annual SUNDAY DRIVE.
Well worth waiting for, Cunningham Park to Ronkonkoma Lake.
This year the SUNDAY DRIVE will represent the 104th Anniversary of the Petite Trianon making its debut at our Lake, and the Proclamation of the Petite Trianon as the10th Historic Landmark of Lake Ronkonkoma.
The flyer is full of information, but may I mention:
1. In keeping with the LI Motor Parkway history, We will be collecting an official "TOLL" from every vehicle as it enters our final destination in Ronkonkoma Beach. The $5.00 toll will in its entirety be added to the ARTHUR LOPEZ MEMORIAL through the Nassau County Police Department. Many of us remember the 3rd Sunday Drive, as he was slated to attend. He was murdered by a criminal as he was performing his duties as a Police Officer just weeks prior. Our thoughts were with him now, as they were then.
2. If you will be meeting up with us at Dix Hills or Lakeland Fire Station, please tell me. I will need to pass the count on to the Police escorts.
3. Please email if you are attending, so I can contact you with any changes as they come in. Call me if email is not an option.
4. A complete list with directions, stops, and information will be given to every vehicle at Cunningham Park. If you still have your "Drivers Credentials" this can be added to your collection.
5. Please pass on the information regarding the event. We would love to have trucks and motorcycles from the period join us.
It has become an honor for me to work with all of you for our Historic Reenactments.
We thank the Town of Islip for their vivid participation.
Please do not hesitate to call me at any time with questions or just to say hello.
