When Tazio Nuvolari Drove A Sprint Car In Ozone Park
After winning the 1936 Vanderbilt Cup Race, Tazio Nuvolari and the Italian team had one more week in the New York area before sailing back to their home land. In the February 2008 issue of Automobile, Tony Kaye documented their trip to the Cross Bay Speedway in Ozone Park.
Tony has forwarded the article.
Enjoy,

Nuvolari biographies generally fail to tell us much about his American sorties, Tony Kaye recalls the time the Flying Mantuan took to the dirt track.

From Ed Dooley:
Nuvolari is one of my favorite drivers in history and of his era. Always am intrigued by stories and accounts of their careers. The Cross Bay Speedway being one I was totally unaware of.
Many thanks,
