The Black Beauty Meets The Black Beast in Roslyn

Last week, the Black Beast teamed up with a special Gibson Les Paul "Black Beauty", one of the guitars used by the Pretenders' James Honeyman-Scott.

The Pretenders' Black Beauty is owned by Roslyn's Music Zoo, one of the leading distributers of guitars in the world. Both the Black Beauty and the Black Beast call Waterfront at Roslyn, 55 Lumber Road, their home.

Through 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's the Gibson Les Paul model guitar became the icon of rock music. The best guitarists chose  this model and Gibson built a signature model for some of them.

Some artists who use the Gibson Les Paul model are: Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), Lindsey Buckingham, Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard), Chris Chasse (Rise Again), Graham Coxon (Blur), Eric Clapton, Steve Clark (Def Leppard), Sheryl Crow, Al Di MeolaAndy Dunlop (Travis), Elliot Easton (Cars), David "The Edge" Evans (U2), Don Felder (Eagles), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Jerry Garcia (The Grateful Dead), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Gossard (Pearl Jam), Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, James Hetfield (Metallica), Noel Hogan (The Cranberries), Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones),Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Terry Kath (Chicago), Frank Lero (My Chemical Romance), Kerry Livgren (Kansas), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Bob Marley, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Tom Scholz (Boston), Neal Schon (Santana, Journey), Earl Slick(David Bowie),Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Nancy Wilson (Heart), Neil Young and James Honeyman-Scott (Pretenders).

James Honeyman-Scott was one of the most original and versatile guitarists of the early 1980's new wave movement, making the his 1982 death even more tragic. He was the Pretenders' lead guitarist for their first two albums. Following his death, Chrissie Hynde penned a tribute to Honeyman-Scott and one of the Pretenders' biggest hits "Back on the Chain Gang,"

Two iconic symbols of American history. Being a guitar player and have played a Les Paul, the Les Paul has a very unique & special sound which is very pleasant to the ear compared to other guitars. Very cool piece, keep them coming Howard.

Wow who compiled that list of guitars that has used Les Paul’s!!!!  You may want to edit the list since it did not include one of the best guitarists of his day James Patrick Page.  The prototype that inspired guitarists for the last 40 years.  Not only that how many signature models have been produced with his name on it.  Not to forget one of his guitars was named the black beauty!  Wow guess people just don’t know history any longer.  Must be a punk rockers blog.  Don’t forget Jeff Beck and Joe Walsh too.
