Article “Car Island: The Intersection of Automobile and Long Island History”
The April 15,2010 issue of the Long Island Press included an article "Car Island: The Intersection of Automobile and Long Island History" linking the Motor Parkway with the history of Long Island.
Unfortunately the article makes two Motor Parkway faux pas:
-William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. and his business associates built the Long Island Motor Parkway...not his father William Kissam Vanderbilt.
-The Motor Parkway was always called the Long Island Motor Parkway when it was in use from 1908 to 1938....never, never, the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway.
