Hold the Date:Presentation “Then & Now in the Willistons:The Motor Parkway and Vanderbilt Cup Races”


In celebration of the first road built exclusively for automobiles, Howard Kroplick and Al Velocci will present a then and now review of the Long Island Motor Parkway and the Vanderbilt Cup Races with a special focus on East Williston and Williston Park. Howard Kroplick, Town Historian of North Hempstead, and historian Al Velocci are co-authors of the book The Long Island Motor Parkway, currently in its fourth printing. Following the presentation, Howard and Al will be signing their four books on Long Island history including Howard’s recently published Arcadia book North Hempstead.

The presentation will be held at the Williston Park Village Hall 494 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, New York on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 PM.

This promises to be an exciting afternoon for fans of Long Island automotive and Willistons history. The program is hosted by the East Williston and Williston Park Historic Committees.
