Highlights of the Third Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society Meeting


Twenty members of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society had an great time last night discussing all matters concerning the Motor Parkway at the Bonwit Inn. Some highlights:



 

 

 

Howard Kroplick reported on progress being made on the Old Bethpage Village Restoration Bridge including the repairing of three breaches in the nearby fence last week.




 

Al Velocci gave an insightful presentation on "Tips on collecting Long Island Motor Parkway memorabilia".




 

 

All attendees received this unusal map of Long Island that was published in the June 1938 issue of Fortune. The caption for the Motor Parkway reads: "Long Island Motor Parkway Opened 1908, a highway sensation; closed 1938, an outmoded relic".
