Help Solve the Motor Parkway Mysteries of Central Park

The Central Park Historical Society and the Bethpage Public Library will be co-sponsoring a presentation The Long Island Motor Parkway, the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race and Central Park" tonight beginning at 7:30 PM.

The presentation has been highlighted in several publications including:

-Hemmings

-Central Park Historical Society Press Release

-Newsday

Come out tonight and help answer these questions about the role of Central Park (renamed Bethpage in 1936) in the Vanderbilt Cup Races and the Long Island Motor Parkway:

Which Central Park hotel opened in time for the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race and promoted its proximity to the Motor Parkway?

Where was the ground-breaking ceremony for the Long Island Motor Parkway held in Central Park on June 6, 1908?

Where did these Central Park residents view the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race?

Which train was behind the Motor Parkway in this photo? What was its function during the 1908 races? What does this location look like today?
