In Search of Alcos: #2 The Only Known Running Alco Truck In the World

The Hershey Flea Market was "tons" of fun with over 10,000 vendors and 100,000 attendees. But, my big thrill was encountering Tony Guarnaschelli and his 1912 Alco Two-Ton Truck.... believed to be the only running Alco truck left in the world.

Tony is only the third owner of the Alco truck. After working in Upstate New York, the truck was purchased by Henry Austin Clark, Jr. for the Long Island Automotive Museum. After years on display, Clark sold the truck to Tony, who owns a trucking company.

The truck is dedicated to Austin Clark, Jr., Bob Theim and Joe Tracy.

Warren Kraft, Tony and I had an informal Alco Club meeting in Hershey. It is a very small club since there are only 12 Alcos known to exist today.

A 1912 Alco truck brochure provides further insight into Tony's truck. This pdf describes "The Story of the Alco".

Here were the specifications for the 1912 Two-Ton Alco Truck

I knew they were rare, but not that rare. i live in kansas city missouri and my grandfather has had one in his barn for years. it hasn’t ran for a long time, though. information is hard to come by so anything you have is welcome.
